How I Moved Into My Luxury Apartment With Less Than $600

by Apt Planning Co

Moving can be expensive..but not for me.

I moved into my luxury apartment with less than $600 upfront.

And no, it wasn’t because I had some secret connection. I didn’t have some magical credit situation.

I found an apartment that was running the right combination of rent specials.

But seeing “2 months free” or “$0 deposit” on an apartment website does not automatically mean you’re about to move in cheap.

You have to know what to ask for.

The apartment I chose had all three of these specials running at the same time:

2 months free rent
This was the biggest one. Instead of paying full rent immediately, I was able to take advantage of free rent being applied to my lease.

Waived application fee
Application fees can easily add another $50–$100+ before you even know whether you’re approved. Mine was waived.

$0 deposit
This made a huge difference because deposits are usually one of the biggest upfront costs when moving.

When all three of those were combined, my actual move-in cost came out to less than $600.

Before I counted that money as savings, I asked the leasing office one specific question.

Find out WHAT in my rent special strategy.

And STOP Shopping for Apartments Based on Rent Alone

Apartment A: $1,450/month
Apartment B: $1,650/month

What if Apartment B is offering:

  • Two months free
  • Waived application fees
  • $0 deposit
  • Reduced admin fees

Suddenly that “more expensive” apartment could cost you way less to actually move into and overall save you thousands.

When you’re apartment hunting, you need to look at the entire deal, not just the monthly rent.

Rent Specials Are Real But You Have to Know How to Use Them

And before somebody says, “That doesn’t work where I live” , rent specials are not a loophole I invented.

Apartment communities use concessions all the time to attract renters, especially when they have vacancies they want filled.

The exact specials available will depend on the property, market, time of year and availability.

That’s why you have to look for them intentionally.

I put my strategy for finding and using rent specials inside my Rent Special Strategy.

It’s $5.50.

One question could be the difference between thinking you need thousands to move…

and realizing you may not.
